Tuition free adult upgrading ending

Tuition free adult upgrading is about to come to an end at the College of the Rockies.

Starting in January 2016, people looking to do adult upgrading will have to pay.

Department Head for Trades Programs, Kevin Szol  says it’s to offset a change in the Ministry of Advanced Education’s funding model.

Szol says the grants are for low-income people and the college will manage the grant process but the province sets the criteria.

The adult upgrading includes courses such as computer studies, education and career planning, English, science, mathematics and social sciences.
