All this wildfire smoke is proving to be a frustration for crews battling the big Stickpin blaze south of the border.
It is causing difficult breathing and poor visibility for residents and fire personnel.
Helicopters were not used Monday because visibility was too poor and it was not clear if aircraft would be on the job Tuesday.
On the plus side the US Fire Service says the calm air and smoke resulted in less intense fire activity for elevations under 4000 feet.
The 33-person BC crew on the north east flank have been identifying the best control points to construct indirect fireline.
BC Fire Information Officer Mike McCulley said Tuesday it’s been intense hard labour.
Another 15 ground crew are to join the BC team.
The fire remains around 5-kilometres from the border.
There are no evacuation alerts at this time for Grand Forks and Christina Lake.
