No let-up in smoky skies

All this unhealthy smoke in our skies won’t budge until the weekend.

The very slow southerly wind is not shifting the US wildfire smoke that’s trapped in our valleys.

Lisa Coldwells, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says we’ll have to wait till Friday or Saturday for some noticeable change.

Until then Interior Health’s air quality index shows the smoky skies in the boundary remain a very high health risk while smoke in the West Kootenay poses a high health risk.

We’re advised to stay indoors if possible and refrain from strenuous activity.
