UPDATED: Fire hall referendum set for Dec. 9

A vote will be held Dec. 9 on Creston’s new fire services building.

Town council set the date for the referendum this week. It will ask residents if they’re willing to borrow up to $6.1 million to build the new facility.

Mayor Ron Toyota says some people wonder why it’s taken this long, but a lot of work had to be done first.

Toyota says BC Ambulance hasn’t decided whether it wants space in the building.

The building would go on Cook Street next to Extra Foods.
