Local arenas safe, RDCK says after Fernie tragedy

The Regional District of Central Kootenay is reassuring residents that its arenas are safe.

It’s in light of the tragedy in Fernie where three people died following an ammonia leak.

But community services manager Joe Chirico says they’ll have third-party inspections to make sure.

The RDCK operates rinks in Creston, Nelson, and Castlegar.

Chirico says all have modern equipment and safety features.
