The Kootenay unemployment rate is no longer the highest in BC.
Statistics Canada says it stood at 7.7 per cent last month, down from 9.2 per cent in October 2016.
Nearly 70,000 people were working in the Kootenays and 5,800 were looking for work.
The rate in the Thompson-Okanagan was the province’s highest at eight per cent.
Overall the BC rate was 4.9 per cent, down from 5.6 per cent last year
The national rate was 6.3 per cent.
