Housing society plans 8-unit complex

The Creston Valley Community Housing Society is hoping to expand.

The society built Legacy Place in 2015 after realizing Creston was the only community of its size in the Kootenays that didn’t have affordable housing.

Legacy Place is a six unit complex that houses families that make less then $32,000 per year.

Ken Miller, society chair, says they are looking at building another complex.

He says there’s a shortage of good rental property in town.

Legacy place has been a success so far with only one turn over of tenants since it was built.

The society is a not-for-profit society funded partly by Columbia Basin Trust and BC Housing.
