Creston valley museum is restoring a piece of agricultural history.
A 1947 maple leaf-flat bed truck was donated to the museum by Lloyd Bell. The truck was used on Bell Brothers farms until 1972, since then it has been parked on the Bell property
Since it’s donation the engine has been completely rebuilt by volunteers from around the community.
Lumber was donated by Canfor from a 1948 building to rebuild the flat-deck.
Maple leaf trucks were used by farmers in the Creston Valley for transportation of goods
Creston Museum Manager Tammy Bradford says these old trucks were crucial.
Maple Leaf Trucks were the Canadian version of the Chevy, they were common in the valley around the 1940’s.
Volunteer mechanic Skip Bradford says everything on the truck was made in Canada.
He says despite the trucks age they have been able to find all new parts to rebuild the engine and get the brakes working.
You can find more information on the restoration of the Maple-Leaf truck at the Creston Museum website.
