Creston getting new hiking trail next summer

A new hiking trail in Creston starts right in town.

The trail will begin at the end of Helen Street and end at a viewpoint overlooking the valley at the top of Goat Mountain.

Creston Community Forest proposed the trail to council last spring, they’ve just been given approval to begin construction.

Forest Technician Kelsey Syfchuck says they’re completing the final steps.

She says this will be good for community members and visitors to Creston

The trail is set to open in the summer of 2018, it will be 2.9 KM long.

It includes a kiosk and parking lot at the bottom.
