The end of the BC grizzly bear hunt isn’t a surprise to the Creston Valley Rod and Gun Club.
President Traven Huscroft says they have been watching the issue for the past few years.
He says some club members are worried this is only the beginning.
Huscroft says the ban might affect the economy in northern BC because of outfitter posts that are specifically for the bear hunt.
He says hunting is not the cause of the decline of the grizzly bear population.
The province announced in August that it would restrict the hunt but after consulting with stakeholders, First Nations and the public decided to stop the hunt entirely.
The government says 78 per cent of the groups consulted recommended an end to grizzly hunting.
