Nelson Landing development seeks final approval

The extensive Nelson Landing multi use lake shore development in the Queen City may secure its approval Monday evening.

City council is expected to decide on various zoning and Official Community Plan amendments to allow up to 265 residential units and commercial space on the land straddling the rail line from the old KFP mill site.

Among other things the developer is seeking increased lot coverage and reduced set backs as well as reduced road way and multi-use pathway.

Also they want twenty years to complete the phased-in project.

It could take up to ten years for the first 70 units and only then would a second access road be built.

There have been concerns raised about having just Sproat Drive as the only road in and out.
