Seasonal road closure proposed for Creston area

The Northern Leopard Frog’s population in the Creston area is dangerously low.

That according to Rare and Endangered Species Biologist Lindsay Anderson.

She’s one of the organizers in charge of passing a seasonal road closure to protect the frog.

She says the area the ministry intends to close is a crucial breeding ground.

The Creston wetlands is one of the only places the species is found, there are two other sites in the province where the frog has been re-introduced.

Anderson says her group is onto the last steps of the proposal.

The road would be closed from March 15 to April 30 and August 15 to October 15.

You can find more information about the potential road closure on BC’s angling, hunting and trapping website.
