Kootenay-Columbia’s MP is encouraging residents to apply for the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

Wayne Stetski says there is a little bit of controversy with the applications this year.

The federal government added a survey to the application asking about personal beliefs.

Stetski is asking any late applicants to include him on letters sent to the federal government so no worthwhile projects are missed.

The initiative subsidies wages for non-profits, small businesses and religious organisations to help create employment for high school and university students.

The application closes on Friday.
