A member for the Committee for an Affordable Firehall requested council explore a public private partnership for any potential new hall.
Myrna Johnson gave a short speech and did not allow council members to ask questions.
Councillor Kevin Boehmer noted that on average P3’s cost 16% more than the local government can do for them. Councillor Jim Elford added the town of Osoyoos researched P3’s during their fire hall building process and found they were not well suited to the small size. He asked the committee to come back with some comments as to why the Creston fire hall would be different
The council will provide letters of support to two organisations.
The BC Farmers Association requested a letter be sent to the Minister of Health to support continuing funding of the society, council passed the motion with strong support. St. Peters Presbyterian church also requested a letter of support to apply for the Columbia Basin Trust Built Heritage Grant.
Town council will provide discretionary grants to the Creston Curling Club and the PCSS girls curling team after some discussion.
The third reading of the cemeteries and regulations bylaw was passed as well on Tuesday night.
The bylaw amendment was first brought to council in January.
The change gives a former resident consideration as a resident for the application of fees for a cemetery plot purchase or interment. Any individual that has live in Creston or RDCK Electoral areas A, B, or C for at least ten years will be considered a resident
