The Kootenay Lake School Board Chair says it may be too late to keep the Creston Education Centre open.
Lenora Trenaman says they’ve received no formal requests for an extension since the parents meeting earlier this week. She says the board has made their decision.
The centre is set to close in june.
Homelinks and wildflower parents are concerned about the new building that could house the programs.
Trenaman says anything needed for students who move into the building on PCSS land would be provided and, although there is no urgency to close the education centre, the board did need to provide alternative options.
She says groups were given over a year to bring forward a proposal.
Regional District of Central Kootenay directors Garry Jackman and Tanya Wall requested more time at the meeting on Monday.
Treneman says she’s received one email from a parent asking to reverse the decision, her response included how and when to make a formal request of the board. She reiterated that the programs provided in the centre are not dependent on the facility they’re in.
