The danger from the Stickpin Wildfire in Washington State has diminished but the US Forest Service is delighted with the help they continue to get from a local specialist BC crew.
Thanks to their extensive training, the Valhalla unit of 15 personnel is a sustained action crew working in the most challenging area of the fire.
This includes extremely difficult gradients.
Fire Information Officer Fanny Bernard says the crew is fully embedded with US members and are building fire guard on the north east flank.
They’re ensuring the fire does not move into the route 395 corridor or spread northwards.
