The Town of Creston will be able to fully finance an infrastructure project with help from the Federal Government’s Gas Tax Fund.
The town received just under $2.8 million to develop a long-term solution for the removal of bio-solid waste from the Bulk Volume Fermenter
Mayor Ron Toyota says the town currently has short-term solutions but this project will save on costs.
He adds the project will streamline the system and improve safety and this project is a necessary part of the town’s infrastructure.
The new project will conform with the Ministry of Environment standards and lower solids handling costs. The Federal Government distributed just under $1.9 million to 112 projects in BC through the gas tax fund.
The Union of BC Municipalities administers the fund in the province.
