The suggestion for a new skate park in Creston was first brought to town council in 2015.
Mayor Ron Toyota says four students wrote a letter to council requesting a new park. The town and Regional District of Central Kootenay have been working on the project since then.
He says it’s for everyone in the community.
Along with the skate park the Creston Community Park will include basketball and pickleball courts, walking and picnic areas, and beach volleyball. It’s set to break ground in April, Toyota says he hopes to see it finished by the summer of 2019.
