Creston RCMP responded to 46 calls for assistance last week.
According to S. Sgt Ryan Currie:
- Police were called to intervene in a harassment complaint between two neighbours. The dispute involved bylaw issues, and were dealt with accordingly.
- Police responded to a report of a suspicious vacuum cleaner salesperson in Creston. After investigation, it was apparent that no criminal act had taken place.
- A driving infraction in Erickson led police to believe that the driver had been drinking. Breath tests resulted in a 90 day licence suspension.
- After witnessing a vehicle driving erratically in Creston, police stopped the vehicle to investigate. After providing a breath sample due to alcohol consumption, the driver was issued a 3 day licence suspension and decided to walk home.
- Police were called to investigate a complaint of criminal harassment in which the suspect called, texted, and threatened the complainant a number of times over the past few months. Charges are being considered.
- Police were called to intervene with an intoxicated ex-boyfriend reportedly bothering the complainant to return a phone charger.
- Police were also called to assist with an intoxicated hospital patient after being discharged and refused to leave. After police convinced the ex-patient to put his clothes on, officers wheeled him out to the police car and into cells as he had no other place to go to sober up.
- Police were called again to intervene with another intoxicated ex-boyfriend who decided to steal a couch cushion from his ex. Police located the ex-boyfriend with the couch cushion. The cushion was returned to the rightful owner.
- After observing a vehicle in which the driver was known to be prohibited from driving, police stopped the vehicle, found the driver was prohibited, and showed signs of alcohol consumption. The stop resulted in a further driving suspension, a vehicle impoundment, and a court date.
- Police assisted in obtaining vehicle keys for a complainant from her intoxicated boyfriend. The keys were returned after an unpleasant exchange due to the boyfriend being found in a compromising position.
- Police were called again to intervene with the couple after a window was broken in a residence and threats were uttered.
- Police were called again to intervene with the couple when damage was found to a vehicle.
- Police were called to a report of assault, property damage and utter threats in Crawford Bay. Suspects were identified, arrested, and charges are pending.
- Police were called to investigate a suspicious person at the Recreation Centre in Creston. A male approached two young girls and spoke suggestively to them. Police located the suspect and found him to have health issues. No public concern to be found.
- A citizen reported a concern about biochemical acts of terrorism and magnetic activity. No police action was taken.
- A report of gunshots heard in Kitchener was reported to police. Nothing suspicious was found.
- Police responded to a noise complaint in Creston. Upon arrival, the music had been shut off.
- Police were again called to assist with the on-going dispute between a broken up couple and harassment.
- Police responded to a report of shots fired in Wynndel. Upon investigation, it was found that hogs were being euthanized.
- Police responded to a domestic violence call in Creston. An intoxicated suspect
was arrested. Charges are pending.
