FireWise Consulting Ltd. has recommended firefighting career staff be moved out of the current fire hall.
Ernie Polsom with FireWise presented a report with 19 recommendations to Creston town council and staff last night. He says consideration should be given to making the fire station ‘operation only’ because of health risks. Polsom adds that could take some time.
Town Manager Lou Varela said logistically moving the firefighting staff is going to be difficult but staff are treating it as a top priority. Council has directed staff to research different options, one of which is the top floor of town hall.
Polsom says a timeline for considering recommendations will depend on a work plan from town administration.
The other recommendations are in four areas: Risk Assessment Practices, Procedural Documentation, Facilities, and Equipment.
