No expected tax increase for Nelson Aquatic reno

The higher-than-planned costs of the upgrades to the Nelson & District Aquatic Centre does not mean taxpayers will have to pay more.

This from rural area Director and Recreation Commission Chair Ramona Faust with news the construction budget will end up around $4.8 million.

That’s $700,000 more than anticipated.

The RDCK will borrow up to $4.5 million of that over a 5 year period.

Faust says even with the Aquatic Centre out-of-commission for the 11 month upgrade starting later this month there will be opportunities over the remaining 4 years of the loan period to boost income.
