Creston fire fighters recognised by province

The Creston fire department has been recognised for their service during the 2017 BC wildfires.

Emergency Management BC and the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operation and Rural Development awarded plaques to the department. Fire chief Mike Moore says they were deployed all over the province from South of Salmo to the Elephant Hill fire near Kamloops.

He says it takes an incredible amount of personal commitment from the volunteers.

Moore says in order to help with wildfires around the province a department needs to have a certain level of training and equipment. As well they need to make sure they’re meeting fire protection requirements in their own community.
