Creston CAO leaving position

Creston’s Chief Administrative Officer hopes leaving her position positively affects the community division as a result of fire hall issues.

Lou Varela is departing at the end of June. She goes on to say in her statement:

‘This community needs to focus on solutions and the challenges at hand. I wish only the best for Mayor and Council, Town staff, volunteer fire fighters, and the community as a whole. Working with these amazing people and serving in this community has been an honour. With change comes opportunity and I look forward to the next chapter.’

Mayor Ron Toyota says town council and staff have been under a great deal of stress since the fire hall referendum.

He adds Varela will be greatly missed.

Toyota says Varela has done an exceptional job, especially her work forming the town’s official community plan.
