Creston will be getting a little bit greener on Friday. Accelerate Kootenays are launching the latest addition to their Highway 3 charging network for electric vehicles at Cook Street and Twelfth Avenue north just before noon. West Kootenay liaison for Accelerate Kootenays, Trish Dehnel, says it’s a big announcement as it makes owning an electric vehicle in the region much more feasible.
The fast charger will cost $18 an hour to use, with the average electric vehicle taking about half that time to charge fully.
It’s a big step in keeping the Kootenays sustainable says Dehnel.
Since last April, eleven fast chargers have been installed in the Kootenays, along with forty “level two” stations.
