A water main break to the Erickson Water System caused damage to an orchard and one basement over the weekend. The Regional District of Central Kootenay says it happened around 3:30am and water was shut off by 5:00am. The break was near the old the old Fountain Grocery at 323 – 33rd Ave S and affected about 40 homes.
The RDCK says unfortunately they don’t have a mechanism in place to notify residents during non-office hours and will be looking at ways to address this in future.
