The Kootenay Lake School Board has responded to the understaffing at the local secondary schools.
Two additional full time teacher equivalents will be added to both Nelson’s LV Rogers and Creston’s Prince Charles amidst the outcry from parents and frustration among school administrators.
Board Chair Lenora Trenaman admits they underestimated their needs but that was in large part due to glitches with a new student information system.
But Trenaman insists the biggest reason for the stress is government underfunding which makes juggling students needs each September very difficult.
