Small wildfire breaks out between Salmo and Creston

Helicopters can be seen in Nelson this week as they refill for bucketing on Kootenay Lake. Fire Information Officer Ashley Davidoff says it’s for a small wildfire between Salmo and Creston.

She says it’s approximately 24 kilometers east of Salmo and 30 kilometers northwest of Creston.

And there’s some good news regarding a wildfire southwest of Rossland. Davidoff says the Santa Rosa Creek Wildfire is about 52 hectares in size and is currently being held.

You can visit the BC Wildfire Service website to learn more about fires in the Southeast Fire Centre.
