After the very long and hot summer the South East Fire Centre is announcing some lifting of open burning restrictions in part of our region.
Category 2 fires are now allowed in the Arrow Lake and Kootenay Lake zones. Officials says the wildfire risk has decreased in these areas.
Category 2 fires are 2-metres wide by 2-metres high. You can also burn up to 2,000 sq metres of stubble or grass.
However the ban remains in place in the Boundary fire zone.
