Power outages caused by falling tree and wildlife

Fortis BC representative, Tanya Laing Gahr, gave an update as to the nature of recent power outages.

“What happened was, when the tree fell on the line yesterday, the crew made repairs and shifted over the electrical load to a different line, and it was this line that was damaged this morning.”

Creston wasn’t the only town left in the dark. Kaslo, Crawford Bay and Coffee Creek were also affected. Laing Gahr explained the outage experienced this morning was caused by another factor.  “This morning customers in that area  experienced another outage caused by wildlife.” When asked if a bird was to blame she said, “This is what we think, yes.”

Laing Gahr adds that “this was very inconvenient for our customers and we appreciate that they were patient and understanding as our crews got to work.”
