Creston Valley tourism took a big hit over the last few weeks.
Many communities were affected by the poor air quality and lack of visibility.
The influx of campground and hotel cancellations were due to the fact most activities in the region had to be put on hold. Visitor Centre Coordinator, Amy Maddess explains why.
“One of the most popular activities to do in the Creston Valley is our recreational opportunities which includes hiking or visiting our wildlife management area or anything outdoors. With the air quality that was experienced, it just wasn’t possible and it wasn’t advised either.”
Maddess points out that travelers from Canada, the United States and across the world were either forced to cut their holiday plans short, or choose a new destination altogether.
The Creston Valley is also a hub to what many consider a biker’s paradise. Unfortunately the highways offered very little to those hoping to take in the view.
The air quality advisory was removed on Wednesday, August 29.
