The Regional District Of Central Kootenay wants to look at doing more to make residential properties safer in the event of wildfire.
They will spend up to $10,000 on a feasibility study on whether to have a community wildfire protection education program.
Rural Director Hans Cunningham says this might include providing permanent access to sprinkler protection units for example.
The recent wildfire in Rock Creek saw some homes destroyed while others were left untouched.
The study would emcompass the latest in north american thinking on residential wildfire protection strategies.
