Group aims to monitor bullfrog population

Some interesting innovations could help monitor bullfrog population in the Kootenays.

A crash course on drone use was one of the highlights of a meeting in Creston Valley hosted by a group which looks after the area’s ecosystem.

There are concerns that a bullfrog infestation could wipe out endangered native species such as leopard frogs.

The Invasive Species Society’s Jennifer Vogel hopes the machines can be used to monitor habitation levels in the future.

The drones were very helpful in mapping out the Yellow Flag Iris which was hugging waterways in the area this spring.
