Nelson’s tree loss is Japan’s gain.
Kalesnokiff Lumber is close to clearing out the dozens of logs torn or cut down in Rosemont’s Art Gibbon Park following the big storm in June.
The local mill produces a special Douglas-fir product for the interior of Japanese homes called taruki.
Fibre manager Dwane Sorenson says it’s pretty unique to think a part of a nelson park will be in someone’s home across the pacific.
And he says there’ll be a story to tell their customers.
