Creston Council Candidates: Jen Comer

Running for re-election, Jen Comer currently sits on Creston Town Council.
“I hope that I’ve been able to fulfill what people expected of me in the last four years, ” Comer told the Mycrestonnow.com newsroom. “It’s been such a great experience, and I just feel there’s so much we can do over the next term. So I hope that people give me the chance to continue on this path we have charted.”
Comer says her experience in the last four years allowed her to catch her stride and looks forward to hitting the ground running next term.
“In the first two years, I was on such a steep learning curve. You jump right in, you’re developing the first budget, you’re understanding how a municipal budgeting service works. You’re understanding all the services that the municipality has and what decision making power you have in each of those services.”
Comer also spoke on criticism council faces in the fire hall borrowing referendum and shared her stance.
“We’ve done our due diligence in getting professionals in to do an assessment instead of us just taking it from our gut. ” Comer elaborated on the steps taken, not only for the fire hall but other large projects. “It’s about bringing in the resources and a third party objective view on things.”
In terms of the fire hall, Comer expresses that a long term solution would best fit the needs of Creston as the town is growing and attracting new families from across the country.
