The construction of an addition to the Lower Kootenay Band’s Yaqan Nukiy School is underway.
The $1.2 million project is to help with increasing enrollment at the K to 7 school.
Chief Jason Louie says they now receive funding for all students, including those who are non-native.
Louie says completion of the new building with four classrooms is expected to be completed by next March.
