Rural Area B Director Candidate: Keith Goforth

It’s a two person race in Rural Area B between incumbent Tanya Wall and challenger Keith Goforth.

Goforth says he understands the vastness of the area and notes how diverse it is in terms of demographics, industry and development.

When asked by the mycrestonnow.com newsroom how he would handle a large development with high risk and high reward in the area, his response was this.

“Each community needs to grow accordingly to its needs or wants. So I don’t believe in imposing anything on any particular community. They know what they like and they know what’s going to help their community grow and those are the initiatives I want to support. “
Goforth says he aims to be an effective advocate for all of the communities in Area B and says he’ll focus on finding grants to support initiatives in the region.
One of the problems Goforth sees in the current administration is the lack of communication.
He notes a recent agreement the Town of Creston signed with area B regarding their fire hall.
“It took a while to find out what the results were and I’m still not sure what the results were. An agreement was signed with the town of Creston and I’m not sure what that agreement is. I did get some figures that our taxes would go up. Roughly, $168.00 on a $400,000.00 home in Erickson and part of Area C and they’ll go up from there.”
He says he would reinstate the newsletter if elected in order to keep the region informed on important decisions.
