Creston Council Candidates: Trish Drinkle

Last of the Creston Town Council candidates to be featured by the mycrestonnow.com newsroom is Trish Drinkle.
She moved to Creston in 2001 and says she was confronted by friends saying it was dying town. Drinkle says the only thing Creston suffers from, is an attitude problem.
For this reason, Drinkle took action.
“With a few like minded friends we started a group called positively Creston Valley. Basically, I’m not going to listen to the negativity. Let’s create some positivity and attract all the goodness that we can.”
She says he project started with humble beginnings in the basement in the United Church and it attracted doctors, lawyers and parents with the intention of bringing positive change to the community.
Drinkle supports growth in the tourism sector as well, however she warns locals of the proposed environmental risk.
“I believe we have to err on the side of caution. We have one of the greatest treasures , our beautiful back country, the beautiful habitat that we have and we need to be able to share it. But we don’t want to become another Okanagan.”
She adds that it is important to share the beauty of the Creston Valley rather than exploit it.
Creston votes October 20th.
