Rural Area B Director Incumbent: Tanya Wall

Tanya Wall has served as a councilor in Creston for two terms and now she hopes to make it two terms as Regional Director in Area B.
Working closely with farmers and other producers with Creston and reaching other markets is crucial for economic success, according to Wall. She speaks on the value of a dollar when it is spent on the community within the valley.
“When you look at local economic developments, they say for every dollar that you spend in your community that [dollar] makes it around your community about three to five times. Helping out different elements of economic drivers.
One of the initiatives Wall says she strongly supports is Fields Forward, which works closely with local producers.
She notes the importance of farmers markets, however, she says they alone cannot sustain the community and larger, smarter endeavors are a must in order for the region to grow and succeed.
Wall speaks on the change Creston has undergone with the town having been more focused on being a retirement community and the rural areas focused mostly on agriculture and logging. She says both are now working cohesively to promote tourism, putting Creston on the map.

“We have had huge successes, especially in the last ten years. We’ve seen a change in growth, we’ve seen a change in development and we’ve also seen a change in huge tourism coming to the Valley, and I think that it is mostly because we’ve changed what Creston is about.”

This growth, she says inspires her to continue running for Regional Director in Area B.
