Rural Area C Candidate: Elvin Rempel

Carving out his own “kin domain” as he calls it, Elvin Rempel would not only like to see his way of life flourish in the valley, but also govern as Director in Area C.
Rempel says he believes there are thousands of people that would jump at the chance to tend land if it was freely given to them.
“It’s a lifestyle that fosters unity, love for the earth, everybody tries to be living organically. So it’s a beautiful lifestyle and I would like to see a huge spot cleared up in the mountains, maybe five miles out of town.”
He assures residents of Area C that coexistence between these Kin domains and regular rural folk is possible.
Rempel says he has spent many years south of the border and understands the complicated relations Canada has with its neighbour, the United States.
He also considers the US as a primary trading Partner.
“We have prime transportation routes down there plus they have the population. There more population in a few states down south than there is in all of Canada and so… Ease of transportation make those our trading partners rather than Toronto.”
Rempel says if trading relations between Canada and the US do sour, he believes that Canada and industries in Area C including crops and logging should stand firm since there is demand for Creston Valley product.
When it come to forging new projects, Rempel says he wants to see accountability for previous projects like the West Creston Fire hall which currently sits in development limbo.
Area C votes tomorrow, October 20th.
