The Lower Kootenay Band’s land referendum has been approved.
25 yes votes unanimously passed the deal last night.
The band will surrender 22 acres, located next to the local landfill, to the RDCK.
In exchange they receive, Burden’s Cut, a 475 acre parcel of land on the south arm of Kootenay Lake.

This was the second round of voting on the referendum and only required a majority yes to pass.
For the first time in over 100 years the Lower Kootenay Band will have a presence on Kootenay Lake.
