Though Bill Hutchinson narrowly lost to Creston Mayor Ron Toyota this election, he says he respects the outcome.
He says he wished he could have been on the team to build an affordable fire hall and bring the community together, however accepts that it is not the case.
“The voter is always right and it’s funny how it turns out. They sometimes come up with a decision that is the best for the community and I’m hoping that’s what they’ve done Saturday.”
He says he doesn’t think he’ll run again as he’s been retired for twelve years and is looking forward towards seeing someone with young blood and energy run for office.
Hutchinson also says like-minded councilors Jimmy Karountzos and Ellen Tzakis will have their work cut out for them to keep down the cost of the fire hall.
“Ellen and Jimmy are going to have their hands full because they want something affordable and the incumbents want the Taj Mahal, I’m afraid… And the taxpayers and this community cannot afford the Taj Mahal.”
Hutchinson lost by 65 votes. Both Ellen Tzakis and Jimmy Karountzos were in attendance at the final Creston council meeting as attendees this Tuesday.
