The $75 million Rural Dividend announced by the Province has been welcomed with open arms by the Rural Advisory Council.
Grace McGregor – a local representative on the Council – outlines the significance of the announcement.
A pilot program will set aside $25 million a year over the next two years for communities outside urban centers with populations of less than 25,000.
The funding is aimed at providing opportunities for economic development or to keep youth local as well as expanding learning and skill development .
The eligibility criteria and further program details will be finalized in March of next year.
