Search and rescue teams across the province are voting on a new funding foundation model they hope will go a long way to keeping all teams financially viable.
As our region’s BC SAR Information Officer explains such a foundation would control all annual grant monies.
They would then be dispersed for operations and equipment as needed by each group, and for administration.
Nelson Search And Rescue’s Chris Armstrong says volunteer teams spend a huge amount of time helping people who get into difficulty.
So they don’t have the resources to handle all the grant applications and admin.
