A Nelson filmmaker has directed a major project about Jumbo that has some serious international backing.
Clothing manufacturer Patagonia has teamed up with Nick Waggoner to produce “Jumbo Wild”.
It tells the 24 year story of opposition to the proposed large scale ski resort.
Waggoner says the association with the sponsor gives the movie a lot of weight.
The movie brings stunning visuals of the Jumbo Backcountry.
But Waggoner says it also has global appeal because it focuses on how small communities try to reconcile economic development with environmental values.
It’ll be screened at the Nelson Civic Theatre Tuesday and will include a panel discussion.
