No injuries in Highway 21 house fire

Creston Fire Rescue in coordination with departments from Canyon Lister, West Creston and Wyndel-Lakeview responded to the blaze at 3:00 am on Sunday, March 17. Unfortunately, by the time crews arrived at 3712 Highway 21, the house was fully engulfed in flames.

“We had fire coming from just about everywhere,” Creston Fire Chief Jared Riel explains. “We started putting it out, unfortunately the house was lost but everyone made it out safely and there were no injuries. Nobody got hurt.”

The home’s resident had two guests at the time of ignition, all of whom exited the building to call for help.

“The resident woke up to the sound and the sight of the fire and immediately left the house to go to the neighbour’s house to call 9-1-1.”

A chimney and the charred remnants of the outer walls are all that’s left. After investigations wrapped up at roughly 3:00 pm on Sunday, Riel says a candle is suspected to have been the cause of the disaster. BC Ambulance, RCMP, Fortis BC, and Ministry of Transport were all in attendance as well.
