Hazardous waste round-up sees big response

The overwhelming success of a recent household hazardous waste round-up highlights the need for depots in our region.

And RDCK Chair Karen Hamling says they will continue to lobby for more.

Almost 800 residents dropped off hazardous materials such as mercury, flammables, acids and solvents at special events across our region last month.

Over 8,000 liters worth of paint containers and products, nearly 5,000 kilograms of TV’s,computers and other e-waste, and three truck loads of hazardous materials were kept out of the landfill.
