Forestry company seeks public input on stewardship plan

One of our local forestry companies is doing public outreach as they prepare their forest stewardship plan for the next five years.

Kalesnikoff Lumber now has licences along the east shore of Kootenay Lake in addition to their established areas.

Woodlands Manager Tyler Hodgkinson presented to the RDCK board last week and says they want to hear from the public early in the process and before things get site specific.

Hodgkinson says they’ve had success with a number of community working groups where concerns can be addressed well in advance.

You can check out the stewardship plan via the Kalesnikoff website.

Their obligation to advertise the plan ends November 1st but Hodgkinson says they’ll remain open to feedback after that.
