Rossland set for big rate hikes

The city of Rossland has reached its final public awareness push as big rate increases are set to come in next year.

Water will go up 11% a year for 14 years and sewer rates will increase by even more although not for as long.

The city is asking for comment and there’ll be a public meeting in November.

Mayor Kathy Moore says like many communities across North America Rossland has not been putting money away for the upkeep of the ageing infrastructure.

Previous administrations have not properly funded water and sewer but Moore and her council were elected in part, to address this.
