A second silver earned by Creston at the Columbia Valley Clash of the Titans Tournament

The Creston U-16 Boys soccer club earned silver at the Columbia Valley Clash of the Titans tournament in Invemere last weekend.

Dan Schiffke who coaches in tandem with his brother Steve said he could not be more proud of the effort the boys put in.

“We played Spring Bank, A Calgary team in the first game in which we won 5 nothing, and then we played our second game the same day on Saturday. We won 9 – 1 which moved us into the Championship game for first against the Kootenay South Youth Soccer Association.”

Creston held off Kootenay South, the top tier team in the Kootenays, 1 – 1 until a penalty shot decided who would get gold.

Schiffke has been coaching much of the same group, including his son for the past 10 years. Their next tournament is in Cranbrook for Sam Steel Days which starts June 13.

“It’s a higher competition tournament and I see nothing but success for the boys. We have two international students that are playing with us so this will be their last tournament,” Explains Schiffke. “June is going to be bitter sweet with putting it all out there and seeing what we can do to succeed but also at the same time spending on last tournament with the boys.”

Schiffke also coaches his younger daughter.
