Boil Water Notice for Erickson residents

The Regional District of Central Kootenay has issued a Boil Water Notice for Erickson Water System users due to a water main break.

The affected area is between 3013 Beam Road to the west, and for 27th Avenue N, north of Highway 3A.

Interior Health recommends that water intended for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute. Users may also choose to use bottled or distilled water, or water that has been filtered through a well-maintained treatment device.

Erickson customers are also asked to conserve water until further notice.

Owners of all public facilities must post a Boil Water Notice at all sinks or drinking water fountains accessible to the public as well as verbally inform clientele. Another option is to simply turn off the taps.

The RDCK is taking additional measures to reduce risk; turbidity levels will be monitored and the public will be notified when conditions change or water quality has improved.

For more information and frequently asked questions about water quality contact the RDCK at 250-352-6665 or visit their website at www.rdck.ca/water.
